Conservation of Easel Paintings
We undertake the conservation of easel paintings for individuals and major collections on both their major and minor works of art . We can address almost any problem presented, and where we are not able to help directly, we can direct enquiries to those other specialist who can – for example on works of art on paper (prints. Watercolours, photographs), textiles, ceramics, sculpture, framing, mounting, etc..
Projects may span a couple of days to several weeks, months or years. Authentication projects often take a while to conclude whilst one is waiting for responses to research enquiries from other institutions or whilst waiting for academic papers to be published before seeking confirmation of attribution from an appropriate leading art historical specialist.
Reconstructions
On occasion it is necessary to reconstruct badly damaged or destroyed paintings. We have undertaken various projects of this nature, covering a wide range of painting periods and styles.
