Artwork Condition Report

We are able to supply artwork condition reports to help clients with decisions over the purchase of artworks, and upon request we frequently examine works at auction houses and commercial galleries, or at undisclosed locations prior to private treaty sales.  In so doing we are able to supply verbal or written condition advice prior to sale – either briefly or as a more in-depth technical appraisal if required.  In many cases we are also able to advise on the vendor’s stated provenance and likely attribution – as well as on future framing, display and installation requirements, and on longer term care and maintenance – if appropriate.

Such advice – whether on major or minor works – is strongly recommended before any money is parted with.  Purchasing works of art can prove a minefield and it is much better to enter in to negotiations in the full and confident knowledge of what it is you are trying to acquire: Forearmed is forewarned.
